The sky is really a big dark cloud and there are little snow flakes floating through the air. The wind is going to be a big deal today. I'm planning on just staying in and working on my examples for the class I am teaching. Maybe I should work on the mittens for me. Have a good Saturday!

Walk to Cure Diabetes

I know this is a little short notice, but we will be Walking to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, January 20. If you are so inclined, please click on the logo and donate whatever you can.

With your help, we are moving research from the laboratory bench to the patient's bedside, translating scientific advances into longer, healthier lives for those with diabetes. With your help, we are moving closer to our goal...a cure for diabetes and its complications.

Thank you!
Cathy

Saturday Sky

This picture looks like we are having a blue sky, but it is just a flat grey.
Which makes me ask a spelling question: grey or gray?
Let me know!

First '007 Saturday Sky

I thought the sun was supposed to be behind the clouds all day, so when it peeked out I snapped this picture.
I hope it stays out a little longer. I could use a little solar power today ;-D

Saturday Sky ;-D

These pictures made me think of holiday decorations. I don't decorate like this, but I would like window clings that looked like these.

The REAL Explanation: On December 22nd, at 0022 Universal Time the Sun reached its southernmost point in Earth's sky marking the final season change for the year 2006. In celebration of the Solstice, consider these images of the Sun from an extreme ultraviolet telescope onboard the Stereo Ahead spacecraft. Recorded on December 4th, Stereo's first day of imaging, each false-color view highlights atomic emission in different temperature regimes of the upper solar atmosphere; 2 million kelvins in yellow, 1.5 million in green, 1 million, in blue and 60 to 80 thousand in red. The Stereo Mission will place twin spacecraft, launched together in October, into different solar orbits to conduct a three dimensional exploration of the Sun and the solar environment. After completing lunar swingby maneuvers, the A spacecraft is intended to orbit the Sun "Ahead" of planet Earth, and the B spacecraft "Behind".

Gotta love it!

The first picture was taken at 2pm and the second at 3pm.
I love Minnesota!

Saturday Sky from Long Ago

This is the sky on the day that we moved from Nebraska to Minnesota.
In May 1983, we packed up and drove from Bennington to Bloomington.
In June 1983, we finished the trip, all the way to Maple Grove ;-D
Ten days in a motel with four little boys. You do the math!!!

This was our "Welcome to Minnesota" Sky. A little intimidating, but pretty!

Here are the little angels who were trapped with me in a Howard Johnson's in 1983.
They are all full grown now (not necessarily grown-up!).

Warm Hands!

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything, but life just gets in the way sometimes.
I have been on a knittin' mitten mission. There are even a few more that are done, they are just in the other room and I'm not going to get them right now.
Gotta love Warm Hands!

Saturday Sky

This is definitely a November sky. I aimed west and then east and it is just drab and grey. The leaves are gone. I could hear some birds, but I couldn't find them. *sigh*

Do you have an accent?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Saturday Sky

I finally get to post this picture.
I think I need a tripod ;-D
Maybe I can say the out of focus effect is a design element. It is an artistic touch!

The sunrise on Sunday morning was beautiful! I was taking this picture through a window on the third floor of Villa Maria Retreat House. And the tall grass! I don't know why I think it is so beautiful, but I am always drawn to it.

This is Pam's bag. She is almost finished. I can't wait to see the finished one. Then we all piled into the restroom to felt Anita's bag. I didn't get a picture of the finished one, I just thought it was fun seeing all these wonderful women stuffed in there.

Here are Betty and Bill. They knit for charity. Bill has made over 850 hats in the last 4 years.
Betty knit the mittens. I don't know what her total is, but they are keeping a lot of people warm!

Minnesota Knitter's Days 2006

Saturday Sky!!
I went to Villa Maria near Red Wing MN this weekend for Minnesota Knitter's Days.
Lucy Neatby was our teacher and she showed us several ways to knit felted bags. I made the Origami Bag, but it isn't felted yet. That will be another post.

The area was beautiful!
I have a Sunday Sky picture too.

Here are our knitters!
Wonderful people from all over the Upper Midwest.
We had so much fun! I can't wait to go back next year!

Mitten Monday (I know it's Thursday!)

I just can't seem to get me on the calendar and keep up with where I'm supposed to be.
BUT I have been knitting and here is a little proof.

There are some thumbs missing and a few ends to weave, but I have a little time before the holidays to get that done!

Have you seen the Colbert Report "You're On Notice" Board?
It's a fun site.

Saturday Sky

Oops, this really got away from me. My grandkidlets got to spend the day here and we played in the leaves and ate macaroni and cheese and played with 30 year old Legos and used the markers and looked at the animal cards and ate 'dump dinner' and Joe and Lindsay and Scott came over and we watched Scott and Grandpa take out the old microwave/range hood and put in a new hood and ate apple pie and now Grandma is exhausted, but in a good way!
So here is her Saturday Sky:

Saturday Sky

It's 3 in the afternoon and this is the first bit of blue sky that I have seen in a long time.
It looks like we have cotton-puff trees ;-D

Where will you be?

Bummer! The black print doesn't show on the brown background!

Yep, I fell for this

It seems that no one spells my name correctly, so I wanted to see who else had the same problem.
