Saturday Sky

Oops, this really got away from me. My grandkidlets got to spend the day here and we played in the leaves and ate macaroni and cheese and played with 30 year old Legos and used the markers and looked at the animal cards and ate 'dump dinner' and Joe and Lindsay and Scott came over and we watched Scott and Grandpa take out the old microwave/range hood and put in a new hood and ate apple pie and now Grandma is exhausted, but in a good way!
So here is her Saturday Sky:

Saturday Sky

It's 3 in the afternoon and this is the first bit of blue sky that I have seen in a long time.
It looks like we have cotton-puff trees ;-D

Where will you be?

Bummer! The black print doesn't show on the brown background!

Yep, I fell for this

It seems that no one spells my name correctly, so I wanted to see who else had the same problem.

SS and FF

Saturday Sky and Finishing Frenzy!

It has been cold with snow flurries for the past three days and today will seem glorious!

I finally finished the three baby sweaters (little hoodies).
The yellow and blue ones are for a set of twins due in January and the blue one is for a little boy due in December.
The felted mittens? I did the no-no that I have always told my students: "Never walk away from the washing machine when you are felting!" So I simmered them in vinegar and stretched the living daylights out of them and they just might fit the recipient. I also knit a red pair, but they are not cooperating. If you have any ideas on unfelting, please let me know!

Almost finished!

I thought I should take the picture and get it out here before I give these away. I hate it when I have given the gift and then I have to ask for a picture.
These are from a Mitten Exchange so I don't know what yarn this is. I used #2 and #3 needles and I think they look pretty good. I'll just get those ends woven in and ta-da!

They are really a wonderful deep dark winey purple. I really like the color and it just isn't showing up on my monitor. I hope it looks great on yours!
Update! I was feeling a little guilty that these were plain vanilla mittens. No embellishment, no fancy stitches, just warm mittens. So I put some chocolate in the package and a tiny ball of Opal and little candle. THEN when I went to the exchange, MY mittens weren't even finished. What is done is beautiful and the person who knit them did a great job. I just have to put the thumbs on. Thank you Wonderful Knitter Who I don't know! Thank you!

My Red Scarf

Fred is modeling my Red Scarf.
He is a retired racing greyhound and is 14 years old.
There was just one little ray of sunshine and he was in it :-D

If you click on this button, it will give you a flyer in PDF format.
All the information is on the flyer. What they need and where to send it.
I have pledged to knit five vests by next June. I bet you can do that too. In fact, I dare you!! Let me know ;-D

Peeping Friday (a little late)

This is my garage.
Joe is moving from his Coon Rapids apartment to his Uptown apartment and he used Mom and Dad's garage as the stopover.
Remember when all your possessions fit in a single stall garage?

Saturday Sky and the Walk for Diabetes

I had registered a team to walk this Saturday, but Joe is moving to a new apartment, so it just didn't happen. I did go down and turn in my money and I picked up a t-shirt for Lindsay. She's the reason!

The sky looked a little threatening, but it has cleared up and this will be a beautiful day!

This guy (or gal?) was an official mascot and you could get your picture taken with him (or her?).

I didn't stay for the Walk, but I did take a picture of where we will be next year! Closer to the cure!

Team Nebraska

These are the only buttons that I know how to make.
I finished my Red Scarf, but the light is so bad that I will take a picture tomorrow.
I used the Irish Hiking pattern and Red Wool-Ease.
I know several people who would love it, so I'm sure it will find a good home.

Team Nebraska!

I get to join this team because I was raised there and I have family there.
We are all knitting Scarves for Foster Kids who have aged out of the system and are headed off to college.
Check it out!

Saturday Sky

I've been waiting for the sun to come out. I give up. It's not going to happen, ever! This is our Saturday Sky.

But it was a good day for roasting tomatoes and garlic and making apple pie filling for the freezer. I even made jalapeno jelly yesterday. It's just that kind of weather.

Saturday Sky

It was a beautiful day to go to the Renaissance Festival.
Windy, but dry and warm.
I always head to the Mead dealer and
then we sit on bench and watch all the people.
Someday I'm going to make my own!

Knitting does happen here.

I just haven't posted about it lately.
I'll try to do better.
There will be pictures later.
I promise!

Finally! Pictures! The blue one is finished (except for sewing in the ends and the under arms) and the yellow and blue one is getting its shoulders tonight. How on earth did that little girl get in here? Emptying shelves is a fun activity!

Knitting for Charity

I know there are a lot of knitters who like to knit for local charities.
I just read this great list of pointers for getting the most out of your donation.

Great ideas and well written to boot!

Saturday Sky

This is all the blue sky I could find today.
I was at the Osseo Lion's Roar Parade.
I just love the marching bands and the Bagpipes!

Peeping Friday

Here is a shelf of books. They are mostly very old,
some were my Dad's and Mom's and a
few belonged to my grandparents.
I love books!

Saturday Sky?

What a beautiful sky we had today!
Grey, rainy, dull, threatening, dark, darn.

I didn't get to take this picture. Are you surprised?
Just click on the picture and go to the link.

Wish I could take pics like that!

Bob and I went to the FAIR!

We do this every year. It is one of our favorite things to do together.
This year Bob took a lot of pictures and I didn't.
Here is my small selection.

The sky looked threatening right from the start.
We were resigned to the fact that we were going to get wet.
But, we were disappointed! Darn!

Then we stopped at the Miracle of Life barn.
They have new-born calves, sheep, pigs and chicks.
It was so much fun!
This little one is only one day old.

These guys are only one day old too.
There were sixteen of them, so two have been fostered to another mother. ONLY two. I would have shared at least 10!

And this is a dragonfly constructed of junk found on the banks of the rivers of Minnesota. It was hard to get a good angle, but you can see that it is junk put together by a very inventive artist!
